ASMA AHMED SHIKOH is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the American Muslim identity, spirituality, and belonging. Shikoh was described in the NY Times as, “… working to create a new kind of Islamic art that is modern, westernized and female centric.” With over 14 years of experience in New York City and six years in Dubai, she brings global perspectives into her art practice. Her practice includes a dialogical aesthetic, addressing shared identity, social justice, and global citizenship. She is ready to receive her MFA in multidisciplinary arts from the Maryland Institute of College of Arts in Baltimore and has a BFA from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. She has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, featured in major media and scholarly publications. Shikoh continues her practice in Maryland. Her works are in important collections across the globe including the Arts for Embassies program, Statue of Liberty Museum and the Strauss Family Foundation in San Diego.
